When I am painting I search for a mood expressed in gesture and poses that inspire me.
I particularly focus on the figure that suggests reflective thought. Expressing emotions of nature through body language is my main subject matter. What I am striving for is to use symbolism of gesture to represent the struggle of human existence. I am drawn to the humble expressions of ordinary people that portray intensity in a life moment.
My biographical experiences are more often projects of representational depictions of people who struggle with tormented realities. Endeavoring to capture these life situations brings an emotional value to the surface and fills me with creative power.
The symbolic sentiment found in everyday things hidden in familiar gestures and associated objects are elements found through out my work. When the right balance is struck between natural environment and man made objects unified with emotion and character I feel satisfied.
My artistic goal is to have real emotional impact through empathy of subject and a psychological resting place at the same time.
I believe art is reflected in everyday life if we keep our minds open to the possibility of human nature and the spirit held within.
